Šibenik and Krka: a day trip by car from Split

If you are in Split with a free day, Šibenik and Krka National Park are the easiest trip that is worth it. On the A1 motorway to the Šibenik exit the drive takes under an hour.
Morning: Krka National Park
The Lozovac entrance has a large car park and a free bus to Skradinski buk, the best-known waterfall. The circular boardwalk takes about an hour. For more peace, continue by boat to the islet of Visovac or to Roški slap.
Afternoon: Šibenik
Park on the waterfront or in the garage at Poljana and walk to the Cathedral of St James, a UNESCO site. Then climb to St Michael's Fortress for the best view of the channel and the islands. To end the day, Banj beach is a ten-minute walk from the centre.
If you have more time
- Primošten, twenty minutes south, is one of the most photogenic towns on the coast.
- Skradin is a pretty small town at the park entrance with good restaurants.
- The Kornati islands can be reached by excursion boat from Šibenik or Murter.
Driving tip
Buy Krka tickets online; in summer entry is limited per hour. Pick up your car at our Split Airport office, which is already halfway to Šibenik.
